Pearl Jam
9.14.2022 Camden, NJ
Pearl Jam brought their Twenty Twenty Two North American Tour to the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ last night. This tour, supporting their 2020 album Gigaton, was originally cancelled due to the global pandemic. This stop in Camden, NJ was a new addition to the tour that wasn’t an originally planned stop.
This show was also my first live Pearl Jam show. For over 30 years I’ve been listening to the music, but have never had the opportunity to attend a show. Last night exceeded all expectations.
The band opened the show with “Wash” and played a full 28 song, 2 hour 30 minute set that went well past the local curfew of 11pm, to the sold out crowd’s delight. Despite this being the tour supporting Gigaton, only two songs off that album appeared last night, “Quick Escape” and “Who Ever Said”.
To my satisfaction, Pearl Jam played five songs from their debut album Ten, and three songs from their follow up album Vs. But the biggest surprise for me was the addition of both “State of Love and Trust” and “Breathe”, both from the Singles soundtrack.
During the encore, Eddie Vedder grabbed a sign from a fan that said this was his 108th show, to which Eddie replied it was one more show then he has been too. He requested “Leash” and a tambourine. The tambourines were already gone, but the crowd was treated to “Leash”
After 30 years of listening to Pearl Jam, my wait to see them live is finally over. Now the question is, when will I see them again?
